Duke Ellington • Charlie Mingus • Max Roach ‎– Money Jungle

Digital Crate Digging Continues; checking out this hard bop / classic jazz from Duke Ellington Charlie Mingus Max Roach ‎– with the track called Money Jungle.

This was recorded at a time when Duke Ellington was frustrated with life / the music industry. He supposedly gave Max Roach and Mingus  "a lead sheet that just gave the basic melody and harmony", plus a visual image described by the pianist: one example was, "crawling around on the streets are serpents who have their heads up; these are agents and people who have exploited artists. Play that along with the music".

Fast forward to today; we're still living in a money jungle, with people running around trying to survive, exploited by governments and corporations.

Black Friday?   Small Business Saturday? Cyber Monday / Cyber Week? man please!!  Anyway!! let me get off the pulpit and let the music play!! Check it out!!
